The Tax department is seeking a highly motivated professional with experience in state and local tax compliance, tax provision, and related federal tax reporting. This role will focus on preparing and reviewing state income tax filings, quarterly taxable income estimates, ASC 740 calculations, and domestic tax compliance, while also supporting tax planning and audits. Strong tax accounting knowledge, analytical skills, and comfort using technology tools are required. This role will involve coordination within Tax and across Finance, Engineering, Controllers, and Operations to gather requirements and support development, testing, and execution. Project management and communication skills are also critical to success in this role.

Our Tax Accounting teams partner with revenue divisions all across the firm to ensure that taxable transactions have been reported timely and accurately, so that risk to the firm is reduced.

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare or review state income tax filings, quarterly state taxable income estimates, state apportionment workpapers, and related tax return disclosures.
  • Prepare or review ASC 740 tax provision calculations for the firm’s domestic businesses.
  • Prepare or review income tax forms related to the firm’s domestic businesses, including Forms 1120, 1065, etc.
  • Provide tax planning support and assist with federal, state, and local audits throughout the year.
  • Work with Controllers and business units to obtain information needed to calculate and report taxable income, state apportionment, tax provision, and related statements and disclosures.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Finance, Controllers, Engineering, business units, and outside consultants to improve tax reporting processes and leverage technology solutions.

Requirements/Experience/Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3–6 years of relevant tax compliance, provision, or reporting experience; financial services experience is helpful.
  • Experience with state and local tax compliance, ASC 740, and tax accounting preferred.
  • Strong interest in technology solutions, including business and data requirements analysis.
  • Self-motivated with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Technical and General Knowledge:  

  • Strong tax accounting, reporting, and provision experience.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex data processes, workflows, and reconciliations.
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with Alteryx, Tableau, Power Query, Power Pivot, or other business intelligence tools.
  • Project management and business analysis skills.
