Your Impact

You will be part of a diverse, globally distributed engineering team focused on solving critical business problems across Prime Services Clearing. You will collaborate with business, operations, and technology stakeholders to design, build, and deliver scalable distributed systems that directly impact client experience and the firm's bottom line. Our team operates with a data-driven approach — identifying problems, proposing solutions, and delivering them iteratively in an agile environment.

How Will You Fulfil Your Potential?

  • Apply a wide range of technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills to automate and optimise the client problem space across the Global Markets Division.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment driving large-scale re-engineering of systems supporting Prime Services Clearing clients globally.
  • Own end-to-end delivery across the full SDLC — from design through implementation — producing robust, testable, and intuitive solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, advocate a clear technical path forward, and be comfortable making independent, well-reasoned decisions.

 

Basic Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Strong programming skills in Core Java — including concurrency, collections etc.
  • Hands-on experience with the Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Data)
  • Experience with Apache Kafka for event-driven and streaming architectures
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment
  • Experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Experience with one or more of: DB2SybaseSnowflake
  • Proficiency in Shell Scripting for automation and operational tooling
  • Version control with Git 
  • Proficient in using IntelliJ IDEA and/or VS Code

  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Comfortable managing complexity and ambiguity in software delivery
  • Self-starting mindset — able to drive work forward with minimal direction

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional experience in Java-based backend development
  • Familiarity with REST API design and enterprise integration patterns
  • Solid understanding of Data Modelling principles
  • Experience designing and enforcing data contracts between backend services and UI consumers
  • Exposure to AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, Lambda, IAM, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development toolsGitHub CopilotClaude Code
  • Experience in financial services or capital markets applications
  • Exposure to observability tooling (logging, metrics, distributed tracing)
  • Exposure to mainframe application development, tools.

 

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy high-quality software across the Prime Custody engineering stack
  • Build and maintain event-driven services using Kafka and cloud-native infrastructure on AWS/Kubernetes
  • Contribute to data modelling and schema design
  • Manage infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle using Terraform
  • Write and maintain shell scripts for build automation and operational support
  • Conduct unit testing, and root cause analysis of system issues
  • Clearly and regularly communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to management and peers
  • Collaborate with experienced team members to uphold engineering standards across the SDLC
