Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF) is part of the Client Solutions Group (CSG) within Asset Management. ACF manages capital raising and strategy for alternative investments including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives. Within ACF, team members work within product verticals and collaborate across strategies to identify portfolio-wide solutions. They also partner with other teams within ACF, and across CSG, investing teams and wealth management teams. Professional development initiatives provide opportunities to enhance expertise across alternative investment products, and to sharpen market knowledge from industry experts investing across the Firm. 

About ACF Hedge Fund business

This role sits within Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF), responsible for the Hedge Fund business, encompassing both internally managed and externally allocated hedge fund strategies. The platform serves a global client base including institutional investors, private wealth clients, and third-party distributors.

The hedge fund product suite spans:

  • Multi-strategy hedge funds
  • Quantitative strategies (equity market neutral, trend-following, replication)
  • Opportunistic and risk-mitigating strategies
  • Internal (direct) and external (multi-manager) strategies

The business is poised for growth given strong client demand, favourable peer dynamics (best closed), and an improved GSAM hedge fund product suite.

Role Overview 

Goldman Sachs Asset Management is seeking a highly motivated, commercially driven professional to lead hedge fund capital raising efforts across Asia ex-Japan.

This individual will be responsible for distributing GSAM’s hedge fund platform across institutional and third-party wealth (TPW) channels, acting as a regional specialist responsible for engaging hedge fund allocators.

This is a high-impact role designed to establish and scale GSAM’s hedge fund presence in Asia, working closely with global product specialists and regional sales teams.

How you will fulfil your potential 

  • Lead capital raising efforts for GSAM’s hedge fund platform across Asia ex-Japan (reporting to global head)
  • Develop and execute a regional distribution strategy targeting: 
    • Institutional investors (sovereign wealth funds, pensions, insurers)
    • Private wealth and third-party intermediaries
  • Serve as the primary hedge fund specialist for the region, representing the full GSAM hedge fund offering
  • Build and maintain relationships with key hedge fund allocators and investment decision-makers
  • Partner closely with regional sales generalists and global product specialists to drive coordinated coverage
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand GSAM’s footprint in Asia
  • Articulate investment strategies, performance drivers, and portfolio construction to sophisticated clients
  • Provide market insights and feedback to product teams to inform platform development
  • Support client education efforts and contribute to thought leadership around hedge funds and alternative investments

Skills & Experiences we are looking for

  • Significant experience in alternative investments, with a strong focus on hedge fund strategies
  • Demonstrated track record of successful capital raising or client coverage in Asia markets
  • Deep understanding of hedge fund products, portfolio construction, and allocator behavior
  • Existing relationships with institutional investors and/or private wealth platforms in Asia
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to drive revenue growth independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
  • Proven ability to operate as a self-starter in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Collaborative approach, with experience working across sales, product, and investment teams
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced credentials (e.g., CFA) preferred
