Asset Management Operations - We provide customized service to our clients and enable our business to grow the Asset Management franchise across traditional and alternative products. Our teams execute within a front to back operating model, delivering support across the client, product, and investment lifecycle. We also conduct risk oversight, provide change management, business intelligence, and market solutions for the division.
Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation. Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls that deliver accuracy, timeliness, and integrity to our business.
The Asset and Wealth Management Private Operations team provides operational support to the Real Estate, Private Credit and Private Equity business lines. This is an exceptionally diverse role that entails collaboration with Investing Professionals, Portfolio & Asset Managers, Strategists, Engineering, Controllers, Legal, Risk, Tax, Compliance, other Operations teams and external counterparties across each business line. Supporting real estate transactions includes providing operational support to acquisition, disposition, financing (both lending and borrowing) and various asset management activities whilst holding the real estate asset. Asset classes include office, retail, multifamily, hospitality and industrial. The role involves working on new structures and complex documentation with strong collaboration and coordination across both regional and cross-regional stakeholders. The scope of the role is expected to evolve and expand as functions transfer into the team and scope of the investment mix changes. The team is a fast paced, client centric environment where team members must continually adapt to changes in the business, markets and regulatory environment. In addition, team members are expected to drive workflow changes and contribute to the global strategy. We seek team orientated candidates who can demonstrate excellent analytical skills with the ability to manage competing tasks and prioritize risk accordingly.
Job Responsibilities
- Operational support for deal execution, closing documentation, deal closing and lifecycle and harvesting activities, primarily supporting the Real Estate business.
- Review and abstract purchase and sale agreements and various other key real estate documentation.
- Monitor the due diligence process and ensure critical timelines and requirements are met throughout each stage of a deal closing.
- Liaise with external counsel and various external parties on document preparation, creation of sources & uses of funds and closing requirements.
- Manage document execution and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure necessary reviews, requirements and signoffs are obtained.
- Ensure all regulatory and reporting requirements are satisfied throughout each stage of deal execution.
- Attend closing/settlement meetings.
- Execute deal related payment requests and manage lifecycle events.
- Work with business and internal stakeholders to assess and provide expertise on new deals, structures and business initiatives.
- Exhibit excellent judgement & problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of transaction execution, documentation and closing practices.
- Proactively work with business units to assess and streamline processes in order to mitigate risk and drive efficiencies.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors’ Degree or higher.
- Over 2 years’ experience in a similar role with experience of closing Real Estate Transactions.
- Proven analytical skills, problem solving ability and a risk focused mindset.
- Ability to work and adapt in a fast and challenging environment where priorities can change frequently.
- Flexible and able to work well in a team environment.
- Self-motivated and proactive team player, who takes ownership and accountability.
- Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- High attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy and responsiveness.
- Ability to identify where process improvements can be made to increase efficiency and control.
- Native level in both written and spoken Japanese. Confident in English communication.
