JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s Sustainability Investment Platform (SIP) seeks to help clients achieve their financial goals while at the same time fulfilling their sustainability objectives. The team is the central provider of sustainability-related services for Public Investing, focusing on Sustainable Investing Regulations and Sustainable Investing Research.
The SIP Research team is responsible for driving the sustainable investing research agenda. The team designs, builds and owns various sustainable methodologies and thematic-related tools for portfolio management teams, including but not limited to, systematic screens, metrics and tilts using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. The SIP Research team is also involved in the creation of new, and harmonization of existing, sustainable-related products and bespoke client solutions and supports related investment universe creation and validation. The team creates various internal and client-facing content to educate on the latest research insights in the field.
A member within the SIP Research team is responsible for quantitative and qualitative research, project management, various analyses, and marketing. The role may be tailored to fit business needs and/or member strengths. The team is interdisciplinary, spanning various skill sets; team members should have an analytical orientation and be comfortable working with technology and numbers/statistics, and at the same time possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Embedded in a team characterized by collaboration, a broad variety of skills, and permanent curiosity into sustainable investing topics, team members experience a steep learning curve. Team members will also gain a broad-based understanding of the asset management business and sustainable investing through interacting with a variety of teams and clients across the division, including investment teams, engineering, sales, legal and compliance.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop in-depth knowledge of climate, sustainable and thematic spaces while applying best-in-class research practices. Key focus is on investment applications in the context of alpha generation and risk management
- Articulate research findings in a digestible way for broader audience (e.g. in marketing content and internal communication)
- Run bespoke sustainability analyses for investment teams and clients
- Manage research projects, collaborate with team members to develop new strategies, metrics and approaches
- Work closely with various divisions across the firm to develop sustainable investment approaches
- Perform data analyses and understanding sustainable data vendor products
- Perform research to feature in external communications and perform analysis on the competitive landscape
- Perform project management for various research projects, especially for cross-team efforts

- Thrives in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
- Has a mix of quantitative and qualitative skills, reflecting both the data intense and as well as domain specific characteristics of the sustainable investing field
- Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
- Experience with computer programming background (Python)
- Strong interest in sustainability and financial markets
- Outstanding attention to detail, both quantitatively and aesthetically
- Preferred experience with sustainable / climate frameworks and metrics
- Organized and deadline-driven
- Interest and experience with AI tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and think clearly under pressure
- Creativity and problem-solving skills. Flexibility and confidence to take on many different types of problems and tasks
