Job Summary:
Quantitative Volatility Trading is Goldman Sachs’ electronic market making team, operating systematic trading strategies across global markets. We are seeking a Production Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer to manage and continuously improve the live trading environment supporting these strategies.
As a member of the trading team, you will take end‑to‑end ownership of production systems that directly impact trading activity. Reliability, latency and correctness are critical, and the role requires close partnership with Traders, Quantitative Researchers and Developers to ensure the platform operates as intended during market hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the stability and performance of live, automated trading systems
- Support production trading during market hours and respond to real‑time incidents
- Build and maintain monitoring and diagnostics for complex distributed systems
- Investigate production issues and drive durable engineering solutions
- Automate operational processes and improve production tooling
- Contribute to architectural discussions around system reliability and scalability
- Act as a trusted technical partner to the trading desk on production readiness
Qualifications
- Strong Linux systems knowledge and hands‑on production experience
- Good understanding of networking, messaging and distributed architectures
- Expertise in low-latency networking infrastructure and protocols—including Layer 1/Layer 2 switch optimization, multicast routing, and packet capture (pcap) analysis
- Experience programming in Python; C++ experience is an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Comfortable operating in a time‑sensitive, business‑critical production environment
- Collaborative approach and clear communication skill
