Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted function that partners with all parts of the firm to provide banking, securities, and asset management services to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and controls to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation. For every new product launched and every trade executed, it is Operations that develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow. 

OUR IMPACT 

We are looking for a proactive and detail-focused Syndicated Loan Operations Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and management of a portfolio of syndicated loan facilities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient processing throughout the loan lifecycle. The position demands a solid understanding of syndicated loan structures, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to maintain high operational standards in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of syndicated loan structures and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail while maintaining high operational standards in our fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include providing operational support for both syndicated and bilateral loans, managing the full loan lifecycle, ensuring adherence to financial regulations and internal policies, processing all loan-related transactions, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless loan servicing. This role is critical in safeguarding the operational integrity of the department and enabling the bank to effectively manage its syndicated loan portfolio.

Our Loan Operations team plays a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient transaction processing across a range of complex financial products. Successful coordination with the business and the implementation of robust risk management procedures and controls are essential to protect both the firm and our clients.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

Gain a comprehensive understanding of the bank loan business through servicing a portfolio of syndicated corporate bank debt.

  •  Loan Administration & Processing:
    • Process all loan-related activity, including new drawdowns, rollovers, conversions, renewals, paydowns, and fees for syndicated and bilateral deals.
    • Analyze and interpret credit agreements and complex loan structures to ensure accurate transaction processing.
    • Review and process loan amendments, extensions, and modifications.
    • Ensure timely and accurate disbursement of loan funds.
    • Maintain and update loan administration systems and databases (e.g., Loan IQ, ACBS, WSO) with precise data.
    • Board facilities for syndications/participations to the core system, including notes, collateral, and guarantors.
  • Operational Control & Reconciliation:
    • Investigate, reconcile, and resolve outstanding items in cash accounts, past dues, suspense, and break-funding charges.
    • Perform maintenance, calculations, and adjustments on complex interest and fee accruals.
    • Ensure all daily, monthly, and periodic controls are followed and operational Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met.
    • Review daily reports to ensure all maintenance, payments, and advances have been completed properly.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensure all lending transactions are processed timely, correctly, and in accordance with the credit agreement, bank policies, and procedures, minimizing operational risks and losses.
    • Adhere to quality control standards and service level agreements.
    • Identify and report on vulnerabilities and risks in the process.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with lending institutions, borrowers, agent banks, and participant banks to resolve inquiries and disputes.
    • Collaborate with internal teams such as underwriting, legal, credit, relationship management, and IT to ensure smooth execution and servicing of syndicated loan agreements.
    • Coordinate with clients, internal and external senior stakeholders, legal, and various utility teams to ensure prerequisites are in place for facility setup.
    • Process outgoing loan-related payments for FED/CHIP/SWIFT.
  • Process Improvement & Reporting:
    • Identify problems early and determine accuracy and relevancy of information to generate solutions.
    • Drive change and improve daily processes, and partner to institute sustainable practices for continuous improvement.
    • Produce various daily, weekly, and month-end reports for management and trading desks.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-4 years of experience in syndicated loan operations, loan servicing, back-office functions, or a related banking/financial services role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of syndicated loan structures, credit agreements, and loan documentation.
    • Proficiency in using loan administration systems and financial databases (e.g., Loan IQ, ACBS, WSO Admin/Agent, Clearpar).
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with a strong focus on Excel for data manipulation and reconciliation.
    • Basic understanding of financial statements for operational context.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly for resolving discrepancies and exceptions.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy is paramount.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
    • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
