Alternatives Capital Formation (ACF) is part of the Client Solutions Group (CSG) within Asset Management. ACF manages capital raising and strategy for alternative investments including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, growth equity, sustainability, secondaries, GP stakes, and hedge funds / liquid alternatives. Within ACF, team members work within product verticals and collaborate across strategies to identify portfolio-wide solutions. They also partner with other teams within ACF, and across CSG, investing teams and wealth management teams. About Buyout Private Equity. Goldman Sachs’ global buyout platform, the West Street Capital Partners fund series, represents one of the firm’s longest standing and flagship alternatives strategies. The strategy focuses on upper middle market buyout investments across sectors and has invested over $85 billion since inception. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Principal Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Product Specialist, this individual would be responsible for helping to drive commercial strategy, capital formation & client engagement initiatives for the Capital Partners platform.  This involves leading current and future fundraises, management of fundraise strategy and existing investor relationships, and ongoing business development across regions and client channels.  Additional responsibilities include ability to: 
    • Effectively articulate to internal and external stakeholders the investment strategy 
    • Collaborate with stakeholders across ACF, Sales and the firm to execute go-to-market strategies, define target investor base(s), track fundraise progress towards stated goals / KPIs, and coordinate on annual meeting preparation and conferences/events 
    • Be a key partner to the investing team and investing leadership to provide market and fundraising updates to them and to keep current on portfolio developments, new deal formation and portfolio construction 
    • Lead development of marketing content and define strategic direction
    • Lead and direct client due diligence processes, from initial engagement to legal documentation and negotiations; involves close collaboration with legal colleagues to drive terms and manage side-letter negotiations
    • Frequent client engagement / meetings, and potential for business travel. 
    • As a senior member of the product strategy team, individual would work closely with junior members of the team and would be expected to help guide / direct response to various client inquiries, including due diligence requests, participation in RFPs, performance and data analyses, ongoing reporting, and requests for portfolio updates, amongst other ad hoc client requests and projects 
    • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders such as legal, risk management, operations, compliance, controllers and tax in order to inform portfolio management and fund structuring through a client lens and effectively respond to inbound investor requests and inquiries
    • Respond to questions internally from senior management and sales channels 

Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years in a similar or related role
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in private markets fundraising and investor relations
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Strong relationship building skills, for use with both clients and internal stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead global fundraising campaigns and manage existing investor relations 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to help direct / manage production of a high volume of quality work across team within tight timeframes, often including multiple simultaneous projects
  • Attention to detail—proven experience of delivering high levels of accuracy
  • Willingness and desire to train and mentor junior members of team, as well as contribute to and foster a positive and motivating team environment 
  • Candidate must be a team player and self-motivated, demonstrating a willingness to take on more responsibility over time

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$290000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
