The Equity Capital Markets (ECM) Group within Corporate Advisory is looking for a highly skilled Associate to join our Sydney office.
OUR IMPACT
Corporate Advisory works on some of the most complex financial challenges and transactions in the market today.
Our Equity Capital Markets Group works closely with public and private companies, financial sponsors, venture capital firms, and entrepreneurs to originate, structure, and execute equity financings such as initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, and block trades. The group works closely with many other areas of the firm, particularly classic corporate advisory and equity sales and trading.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
Role Responsibilities
- You will help originate, lead and execute equity capital market transactions for our corporate and financial sponsor clients
- You will develop content for meetings with clients regarding their strategy and potential capital market transactions, as well as regular market updates
- You will liaise with multiple internal (e.g. junior and senior team members across different product groups) and external parties (e.g. client management teams, investors, lawyers) on a regular basis to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives
- You will assist in coordinating live equity offerings, including bookbuilds and settlement / operational flow
- You will complete and review the analytical work of junior team members, and provide mentorship and oversight to the junior team
- You will have to think creatively to perform investor targeting of potential institutional buyers, analyzing comparable companies and institutional cross ownership
- You will play a vital role throughout the entire transaction process, including project management for mission-critical equity financings
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years' relevant work experience within ECM, Capital Markets, or related area
- Strong interest in and understanding of equity markets
- Exceptional multi-tasking, time management and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Highly organized with a solid work ethic, motivation level, and strong attention to detail
- Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities
- Capacity to interact and build relationships with a wide range of people and act as a point of contact
- Well-rounded academic background from a top tier institution
- Understanding of transaction cycles and the steps in the process
- Demonstrate maturity to work with all levels of professionals across the firm and external clients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess good judgment to make quick and complex decisions
- Strong analytical skills and quantitative and technical abilities
- Drive, enthusiasm, creativity and excellent interpersonal skills
- Commercially savvy with ability to exercise discretion with respect to highly confidential/sensitive information
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
