We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to join our Data Engineering team. Data is the lifeblood of Goldman Sachs and our data products and services are critical in delivering commercial success for the firm. You will build and maintain close relationships with our users, research, design and engineering teams and work on solutions for internal, external and new business opportunities. As a Data Product Manager, you will closely partner with businesses, fully understand their business processes front to back, and work together with them to uplift their data strategy and processes.

Our (fully open-sourced) Legend data platform is key to Goldman Sachs' data strategy and your role as Product Manager is to drive adoption by unlocking new workflows and business use cases on our data platform. We are responsible for guiding products throughout all stages of the product's lifecycle, including research, pitching, scoping, delivering, promoting, and tailoring solutions to our clients.

We are looking for an experienced product manager familiar with product development and management who has a proven track record in leading the delivery of impactful platforms from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will be excited by solving customer problems, about working with end users to specify requirements and elicit feedback, and leading build and execution. We are looking for a talented and passionate Product Manager who thrives in an extremely entrepreneurial, fast paced environment. This is a high visibility role, backed by some of the senior-most leaders of the firm, and as such, will require creativity and drive to deliver on an ambitious roadmap.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

You will be an experienced Product Manager joining our Program Management and Product Operations function, working cross-functionally to manage strategic initiatives across Data Engineering and Product Operations for our Core Data Platform. 

As a Data Product Manager - Program Management and Product Operations in Data Engineering, you will:

  • Contribute to one of the most critical Engineering functions at Goldman Sachs.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of large-scale analytics and data modelling concepts and gain hands-on experience of how they are supported in the Legend data platform.
  • Analyze data to identify and remove bottlenecks, ensuring that the product development lifecycle runs smoothly and in a standardized way across Legend data platform components
  • Work closely with Data Engineering leads to develop and implement processes to enhance developer experience and productivity 
  • Drive planning, tracking and execution of Strategic Initiatives across Data Engineering
  • Navigate the organizational structure to act as a bridge between different teams, facilitating collaboration and ensuring everyone is aligned with the product vision and goals
  • Define frameworks to manage key Product Management artifacts including Product Feature Requests, Flagship Initiatives and OKRs
  • Design and implement processes for effective Stakeholder Management, communicating and coordinating Core Data Platform roadmaps, demos and feedback sessions
  • Manage project and program timelines and milestones, escalating and addressing issues as they arise

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's in a technical/ business degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2-5+ years of product/program management experience in a client facing role
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with design and engineering teams to drive product development
  • Strong project management abilities, including project planning, structuring work in incremental milestones, and ensuring timely delivery
  • Attention to detail and ability to spot process inefficiencies
  • Familiarity with Agile processes
  • Proven ability to influence and/or lead a cross-functional team without direct authority
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex problems and roadmaps to stakeholders
  • Ability to engage with and influence stakeholders outside their direct control
  • Proven ability to lead by example, with a positive attitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to interpret and extract insights from data
  • Ability to set goals, meet deadlines and effectively communicate progress to stakeholders
  • Independent thinker, willing to engage, challenge or learn
  • Ability to stay commercially focused and to always push for quantifiable commercial impact
  • A healthy obsession on customer satisfaction and the customer experience, and a willingness to be its internal advocate
  • Strong work ethic, a sense of ownership and urgency

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Bachelor’s/Master’s/MBA in related fields
  • Experience managing an entire product's lifecycle, from conception to launch
  • Familiarity with JIRA, GitLab, GitHub
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking, Working Backwards Process, and OKR concepts
