Job Summary:
The Insurance Structurer will be responsible for originating and designing/structuring bespoke market solutions for insurance clients. The role requires a deep understanding of insurance industry dynamics, regulatory frameworks, derivatives and investment products (bonds, repacks, structured credit, private debt etc) used by insurers. Experience in all of these areas is not a requirement, but the ideal candidate would have experience in at least one of these areas and be excited by the opportunity to fill any gaps in their understanding of industry dynamics. The candidate will work closely with the existing insurance structuring team, sales, trading, banking, desk strategists, legal and risk management teams to deliver innovative solutions tailored to the specific needs of the insurers.
Key Responsibilities
Structuring and Execution:
• Design and execute customized fixed-income and derivatives strategies for insurance companies to address asset-liability management (ALM), capital optimization, risk management, and yield enhancement objective
Client Engagement:
• Partner with the coverage teams to identify and understand the needs of insurance clients, including life, non-life, and reinsurance companies.
• Present solutions to clients
- Identify commercial opportunities on the back of regulatory & accounting changes as well as industry / firm specific developments
Regulatory and Capital Expertise:
• Strong expertise in insurance regulatory developments and ability to assess both their broader market implications as well as commercial opportunities associated with specific insurers
Market Expertise:
• Strong market knowledge including macro and specific products (IRS, inflation swaps, bonds, structured credit, options in rates and spreads etc) to enable proactive engagement with the insurer.
Key Requirements:
Experience and Skills:
- 5+ years of experience in structuring, trading, or related roles within FICC markets, preferably with a focus on insurance clients.
- Strong knowledge of fixed-income instruments, derivatives, and structured products.
- Experience with ALM, portfolio optimization, and hedging strategies specific to insurance companies.
Industry & Regulatory Expertise:
- Deep understanding of global insurance regulations (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS 17, US RBC, Bermuda SCR, ICS as adopted across Asia) and insurance/reinsurance products.
- Experience advising on regulatory capital efficiency is highly desirable.
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in financial modelling and valuation
- Expertise in Excel, Python, or similar programming languages.
