Whether advising on a merger, providing financial solutions for an acquisition, or structuring an initial public offering, we handle projects that help clients at major milestones. We work with corporations, pension funds, financial sponsors, and governments and are team of strong analytical thinkers, who have a passion for producing out-of-the-box ideas.

Team Overview:

Southern Region Investment Banking, is a part of Classic Investment Banking at Goldman Sachs, providing the full suite of investment banking services (buy and sell side M&A, debt and equity financings, other strategic advisory). We are focused on serving clients predominantly in a seven state Region centered around Texas and the Dallas-Houston-Austin economies (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas) and cover large-cap and middle market corporates and financial sponsors across all of the firm’s coverage areas. While we are generalists, a large portion of our coverage is indexed to consumer / retail, industrials, natural resources, and technology, media and telecommunications.
Our mandate is to be the primary coverage and execution investment bankers for existing firm clients and grow the firm’s share in the Southern Region. Time with the Southern Region team will provide you with broad exposure to the firm’s coverage areas and products while working in one of the firm’s—and the world’s—most dynamic cities.
Our team consists of ~15 bankers located in the Dallas office, part of a broader team of ~100 within Investment Banking, including Real Estate Financing, Relationship Lending, Marketing, the M&A Group, the Cross Markets Group, and the Chief Underwriting Office.

Why Dallas?

Goldman Sachs is investing significantly in Dallas, which is currently the firm’s second largest U.S. office; additionally, a new standalone $500 million Goldman Sachs campus is currently under construction in downtown Dallas and will house ~5,000 Goldman Sachs employees once complete.
Dallas and its surrounding cities are attractive to the firm for a variety of reasons, including:
• Robust economy home to 24 Fortune 500 companies and ranking #1 in the U.S. for 5-year job growth
• Business friendly state (Texas) that has been recognized for 19 consecutive years as the best state for business – Dallas-Fort Worth has added~180 new corporate HQs since 2010
• Vibrant social scene including the largest contiguous arts district in the U.S., high restaurant and amenity density, and anchored by a host of local universities (SMU, UTD, UTA, UNT, and TCU)
• Attractive cost of living (~half the cost of living in NYC)

Role Responsibilities:

 Our junior bankers work closely with Managing Directors, Vice Presidents, and other Associates and Analysts both within the region and with other product groups across the firm. Southern Region teams are often cross-staffed with industry group experts, typically Managing Directors, from a variety of US (NYC, SF) and global offices.
 The junior bankers in Dallas work across a diverse range of workstreams and projects, including, but not limited to: developing financial models; performing customized company valuation analyses; managing and coordinating M&A and financing transactions; and organizing and preparing client presentations which explain industry trends and / or assess situations to provide financial advice or recommend strategies to meet client goals
 Core banking teams are typically small and therefore junior bankers get great exposure to senior team members and the client, and also are key drivers of projects
