Our analysts work on client-focused research in the equity, fixed-income, currency, and commodities markets, mining big data that enters markets around the world each day to identify game-changing insights. Global Investment Research (GIR) provides investment recommendations by generating fundamental research and analysis of companies, industries, markets and economies. GIR analysts, economists and strategists help our clients achieve superior returns through our creative, differentiated investment insights and ideas. Our clients include mutual funds, hedge funds and pension funds, among others.

The Macro Research team focuses on the intersection between economics and financial markets across a wide class of assets including equities, fixed income/credit, currencies, and commodities. 

We are seeking an analyst to join the US Economics team in Washington DC.  Working closely with the chief US political economist and other members of the US Economics team, analysts will:  

  • Closely monitor political and policy developments 
  • Assist economist to publish timely and innovative research on macroeconomic, political, and policy developments and their economic impact
  • Work with the economists on the team on economic research projects and publications
  • Work with colleagues in sales and trading and investment banking as well as external clients to answer questions and explain the team’s views

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Strong interest in macroeconomics; strong interest in politics, economic policy.  
  • Bachelor’s or Master degree required, preferably in Economics, Statistics, Math, Computer Science or Finance  
  • Strong analytical skills and understanding of statistical analysis, ideally with coursework in econometrics
  • Strong understanding of US political system and policymaking process
  • Knowledge of computer programming and knowledge of statistical tools 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team setting
