Asset Management Operations
We provide customized service to our clients and enable our business to grow the Asset Management franchise across traditional and alternative products. Our teams execute within a front to back operating model, delivering support across the client, product, and investment lifecycle. We also conduct risk oversight, provide change management, business intelligence, and market solutions for the division.
 

YOUR IMPACT

The Asset & Wealth Management Division (AWM) Real Estate Operations team is seeking an Associate to join the Real Estate Core Services team offering dedicated support for the closing of Real Estate transactions. 

AWM is focused on a wide range of real estate activities and transactions, including acquisition, disposition, financing (both lending and borrowing), construction, development, and asset management. 

Asset classes include office, retail, multifamily, hospitality and industrial.  This position will provide support for many facets of the closing process related to these types of transactions, as well as general transaction project management. 

OUR IMPACT  

Real Estate Operations team members are subject matter experts within Real Estate closing and play a critical role in supporting bespoke and varied transactions, ensuring deal closings are executed seamlessly. The role involves working on new structures, complex documentation, strong collaboration, and coordination across both regional and cross-regional stakeholders. The scope of the role is expected to evolve and expand as functions transfer into the team and scope of the real estate investment mix changes. 


HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL 

This is an exceptionally diverse role that entails collaboration with Investing Professionals, Portfolio & Asset Managers, Capital Markets, Strategists, Controllers, Legal, Risk, Credit, Tax, Compliance, other Operations teams, and external counterparties. 

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience closing commercial real estate related transactions.  Experience with both direct real estate transactions and lending/borrowing transactions is preferred. The successful individual will be expected to work in a team of professionals and be able to be commercial, organized & comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, whilst ensuring the highest level of execution and risk management. 

  • Gain an in depth & comprehensive understanding of a wide range of real estate investments, documentation, and regulations/governance. 
  • Partner with investing professionals, asset managers, control side functions and external parties to coordinate and execute all required deal closing documentation.
  • Exhibit excellent judgement & problem-solving skills, particularly in the context of real estate documentation and closing practices. 


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelors’ Degree or higher.
  • Over 4 years’ experience in a similar role with experience of closing Real Estate Transactions.
  • Ability to review and abstract purchase and sale agreements and various other key real estate documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be proficient in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Experience monitoring the due diligence process and ensuring critical timelines and requirements are met throughout each stage of a deal closing.
  • Experience liaising with external counsel and various external parties on document preparation, creation of sources and uses of funds and closing requirements.
  • Working with internal business teams to ensure transaction adheres to all necessary compliance rules and regulations.
  • Managing document execution and delivery.  
  • Physically attend closing/settlement meetings.
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Comfortable in a high-pressure environment.
  • Native level in both written and spoken Japanese. Confident in English communication.
