The mission of Controllers is to ensure that the firm meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution.  Controllers performs critical analysis to ensure the internal and external financial and non-financial information of the firm is accurate. Additionally, Controllers serves an important role in safeguarding the assets of the firm through the independent scrutiny of financial and non-financial information. Controllers ensure that the Firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution. Controllers also ensure that the Firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets. 

YOUR IMPACT

We are looking for an individual to join our Client Assets function. Responsibilities and scope of role will include all aspects of the client asset function – both daily control functions and project/business analysis as well as governance, oversight and partnership across all revenue and other divisions such as, Legal, Compliance and Technology. The role offers opportunities to enhance understanding of various business offerings. 

The Client Assets team is responsible for ensuring compliance with UK FCA Client Asset regulations and other equivalent regulations in EMEA. They are responsible for the daily client money lock up calculation, custody asset segregation and analysis of client balances across a broad range of business areas, regulatory governance mechanisms and reporting within the various regulated entities. The team also are responsible for partnering with business analysis and implementation teams, driving forward various programs and initiatives, providing operational oversight of Client Assets rule compliance, improving risk & control frameworks, meeting commercial initiatives, and liaising with regulators.

HOW YOU WILL FULFIL YOUR POTENTIAL

  • Daily management of Client Money & Custody Assets for EMEA Client Assets entities
  • Facilitate the Monthly Client Money and Asset Return (CMAR) reporting to the FCA.
  • Liaising with various CASS community teams on inputs to daily calculations & managing escalations
  • Engagement with external CASS auditors and submission of deliverables and audit evidence, to demonstrate and support compliance with CASS requirements.
  • Consulting with Legal, Compliance and Controllers Management on Client Assets issues
  • Participate in Client Asset commercial initiatives and process improvements
  • Involvement in CASS breach management, remediation & reporting to FCA.
  • Develop Business Intelligence skills to utilize in day-to-day processes and in long term projects

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 1-3 years of experience in financial services.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to understand complex workflows paired with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must have strong communication skills to clearly articulate issues and ideas & provide timely escalation.
  • Good interpersonal skills to build strong relationship with key stakeholders within and outside of Controllers.
  • Self-motivated and proactive team player, who takes ownership and accountability of projects, has strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities within deadlines.
  • Flexible and able to work well under pressure in a team environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of FCA CASS 6 & 7 regulations would be advantageous, but not critical
  • Basic understanding of financial markets regulatory landscape.
  • Knowledge about financial products, e.g. equities, fixed income, exchange traded derivatives, OTC derivatives would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of any operational functions such as asset servicing, equities/fixed income settlements would be an asset.
  • Shows interest in data analysis, process automation and BI tools.
